Alice Oppenheimer is an elite British Dressage rider based in Hampshire and riding has been in her family for generations. With her mum Sarah, competing at HOYS and at the Royal International Horse Show, it was only natural that as soon as she could walk, she would end up in the saddle! As she was growing up she joined the Hampshire Hunt Pony Club and it was during her Pony Club years that she developed a strong passion for dressage (just ask her about Dusty and Perfection Himself!) She regularly represented Hampshire Hunt Pony Club in dressage competitions. She continued to study whilst she was competing and in 2008 she completed her A levels. It was then that she took the decision to work full time with horses and seek out her ambition to compete in dressage at the highest standard. She was a member of the 2009 Young Rider European team and since then she has been working my way up through the grades and have been placed internationally several time at Grand Prix. She now has an outstanding team of horses, whom can you read about in the ‘Horses’ section on her website!
Alice receives fortnightly coaching from Erik Theilgaard and also attends monthly clinics with double Olympic Gold Medallist Charlotte Dujardin. When she is not working with one of her coaches, she trains the horses herself with support from her mum, Sarah. Keeping all her horses fit and training other horses from the livery yard at Headmore Stud means that she typically rides about 10 – 12 horses a day. This can also include backing youngsters, which they have bred at the Stud. A typical day is a busy one but the decision to work with horses is one, which Alice has a complete passion for.
