Riding has always been more than just a sport. For me, it's one of the most unique and incredible sports because it's not just about us. It's a partnership between us and our horses which never fail to amaze me.
Horse riding is a constant process of learning, you're never done! Horses are living beings with brains and feelings of their own making it uniquely challenging in my views. It's a sport that constantly challenges our skills, and our mindsets too.
The Equestrian Edit was created to support riders through one of the most overlooked parts of the journey: the mental side of riding.
Like many riders, my journey with horses has included a little bit of everything. Over the years I’ve competed across several disciplines including dressage, showjumping, eventing, showing, and riding club activities. Like many adult amateur riders balancing horses with everyday life is tricky. I’ve experienced the highs, the lows and everything in between!
I’ve also spent plenty of time overthinking rides, being overly critical of mistakes, and wondering whether I was ever going to “get there”.
If you're anything like me, this may sound familiar!

In 2025, life took an unexpected turn and forced me to slow down (and for my horse to take an unplanned break).
After being diagnosed with colon cancer, I found myself stepping back and re-thinking everything! It's funny how being faced with your own mortality can cause such a massive change in perspective. But for me, while it was a challenging time, I also feel like it was one of the best things to happen me as it made me focus on my own mindset, resilience, and perspective on life. During that time, I realised something interesting.
Many of the principles that help people navigate difficult moments in life — reflection, perspective, resilience, and self-compassion — are equally powerful in riding. Because horses don’t just respond to our physical aids. They feel everything! They respond to our energy, our moods, our tension, and the way we show up mentally. And yet, very few of us are ever given tools to develop that side of the sport. The Equestrian Edit was created to help fill that gap.

Riding is rarely a straight path.
There will be breakthrough days.
Plateau days.
Frustrating days.
Quiet progress that only becomes visible over time.
The riders who grow the most are usually the ones who stay curious, patient, and willing to reflect along the way.
That’s the kind of rider The Equestrian Edit is here to support.
